My Recipe Inspiration

Personally, I love a good story. I love to learn about the human behind the recipe, the website, the meditation, whatever it is! I find it inspiring to learn that they are just like me or what’s brought them to this point, creating a delicious dish, pursuing their passion, building a wellness empire - again, whatever it is - I love to learn how they got there. In case you, too, like to learn more about the person behind the page, I thought I would share the inspiration behind the energy and love I pour into this website.

My name is Samantha and I have adored cooking and baking for as long as I could stand up. I have incessantly watched nothing but the Food Network (and now the occasional episode of Schitt’s Creek or Ozark) to the point that my friends, roommates, and family would take away my remote control privileges. I love food. I love sharing recipes, stories, and making connections over a great meal. Naturally, the kitchen is my favorite room in the house.

While I was in college, my mom got sick and went through some difficult medical experiences that caused me to really wake up to the healing powers of nutritious foods and become more aware of what we mindlessly put into our bodies. From there, I connected deeply to health and wellness and spread it to anyone who would listen. I was fascinated by the healing journeys of individuals who made lifestyle changes rather than clinging to the next fad diet (which, by the way, there is nothing wrong with — if you are making an effort to incorporate healthier choices, I applaud you. I’d just encourage you to understand the long-term effects and possible impacts on other aspects of your body outside of weight loss before jumping into a diet trend.) This led me on a path to discover intuitive eating and find growth that I could’ve never anticipated. I’ve been a vegetarian, vegan, and now finally am living a life free of labels. That itself taught me how to find radical body acceptance and love. Through a series of many different palates and food exploration, I have returned to my pure love and enjoyment of food. I don’t restrict anything. I do ensure I am being nourished as much as possible but will not skimp on flavor. And sometimes being nourished means just taking moments to celebrate the joy of taste.

In the midst of my continued personal growth journey, I’ve become a yoga teacher and a reiki practitioner to deepen my spiritual connection and pursue the other areas I gravitate toward. So, you can be sure my content and recipes are full of strong energetic healing and informed healthful choices that are the best for your mind, body, and soul.

This collection of appetizers, entrees, snacks, smoothies, and so on is a culmination of all the above. My love for food, the beautiful healing properties of nourishing our bodies, and sparking the interest of all sorts of preferences :).
